One of the toughest moments in a person’s life is the time preceding, during, and healing from surgery. It is a time when your client may be contemplating their own mortality, the purpose of their life, and their place in the world. Add that to the actual stress, pain and danger of the medical intervention, and it is clear how all-encompassing this experience can be.

Consider the impact of SAEM at such a moment; the Practitioner is filling in the blanks and addressing the larger context of this pivotal moment in a life. Our opportunity is not only to assist the physical healing, but to add a depth of perspective for the client, shining a light onto something they are already dealing with, whether consciously or unconsciously.
